My Plumeria

I've waited almost four years for my plumeria plants to finally bloom.  After years of nurturing and care, I am rewarded with a couple of flowers.  Of course, I had to take some photos!  Here are some of the better ones.  I think they look a bit over saturated, but otherwise not too bad for a first try.

I hope you like them.

OBX III

By now you know that I like to take photo at the beach and that one of my favorite spots is the Outer Banks of North Carolina, USA.  This year I had ample opportunity to enjoy my hobby.  Along with the usual sunrises and sunsets, we had a cool storm and an awesome moon rise.  I even had a chance experiment with the milky way!  Lots to learn about star photography, but not too bad for my first try....

I hope that you like the photos!

Pigeon Point Light

How about some lighthouse images for mid-summer?  Here are some photos I took a little over a year ago on a trip to California.  I hung on to them for a while as I figured out what to do with the blown out sky on some of the images.  I've tried to correct using the graduated filter tool in Lightroom.   I hope I didn't overdo it and make them look fake!

This is Pigeon Point Lighthouse, south of Moss Beach.  It is a beautiful spot.  Christina and I were treated to seeing whales that day as they swam by right off the shore behind the light.

Here is a link for more information about Pigeon Point.  I hope you like the photos!

In the Garden this Week

This is a great time of year to find subjects right outside the back door!

I experimented with the "back button" focus technique using my DLSR.  It's pretty handy and I had some fun with it... gave me reason to get outside and shoot.  Kudos to my wife and her green thumb for creating our garden oasis and giving me lots of material to work with...

Here are the better images from this week in the garden.  I hope you like them!

Welcome Summer!

Here are some images for early summer...  I took these while visiting Florida.

Recently, I've been migrating my catalogs to a new laptop.  This has been quite a project as I also decided at the same time to upgrade my software to the subscription Adobe Creative Cloud service.  This is an interesting proposition as for a reasonable monthly rate, my versions of Lightroom and Photoshop will always be current without dropping the big one time payment to actually purchase these programs.  We shall see how this goes.

At the same time, I have taken Amazon up on their "unlimited" cloud photo storage option for "Prime" subscribers.  I uploaded over 14 thousand pictures for backup... thank you Amazon!

So you can see that while I have not published on the blog in a while, I have been busy with my hobby...  I have a back log of content to share in the coming weeks.  Here is the first batch...

I hope you like the photos!

Christmas in Budapest and Holland

Here are some images for the season taken on a recent business trip to Budapest and Holland.  As I was there for work, my opportunities for seeing the sights were mainly set in the evening.  This forced me to experiment and work on my low light techniques.  I must say my Sony Alpha mirror-less camera performed well.  All of these images were taken hand-held, without the luxury of a tripod.  I have not had much time just yet for post processing.  Most of the pictures you see are raw, straight out of the camera.

I enjoyed my visits to the old churches of Budapest and the outdoor Christmas markets.  I hope you like these, my favorite images of that trip.

Merry Christmas!
