Traugers 2014

Just paid our annual visit to Traugers Farm for pumpkins and fall ambiance.  Lots of the usual photos, but this year I was struck by a long line of fall blooming flowers.  I don't know what kinds of flowers they are, but they sure were colorful!  I'll be going back to capture some more as it was rather breezy making it difficult to get really sharp images.

Here are some of the better pics of the day and a link to the farm's website:

OBX II and the Super Moon

Last month I got to join my brother and his family for a return visit to the Outer Banks.  This property was on the sound which offered a great vantage point for sunsets and low light photography.  The trip coincided with the second "super moon" of the summer.   I was happy to experiment with some low light techniques, trying hard to slow the shutter enough to make the sound look like glass.

Unfortunately, we didn't get a spectacular sunset those days, but we had some fun on the dock playing around with the cameras.  Here are some of the better shots (and a bad selfie)...  got more to learn about low light photography!

PAD

Looking for a project, I recently took on the common practice of taking a "Picture A Day" (PAD).  I gave myself some rules, the pictures had to be taken in or around my home and once I picked a subject for the day, I couldn't return to it on another day.  I would do this for one week.

This turned out to be harder than I thought it would be!  Not the most artistic or technically creative pictures I have ever taken, but they gave me a chance to stretch the brain and look closely at my immediate surroundings.  I had fun and enjoyed my hobby every day for that week!

Here are the final selections, one for each day...

OBX I

For the middle of summer, here are a couple of images from the beach!  I didn't get to shoot as much as I would have liked during this particular visit to OBX, but here are a few I did manage to get.  Fortunately, I have a another trip coming up in just 10 days!

I hope you enjoy them.

It's been a while...

... since my last post.  So let me catch up with some material that has been backing up!

Had a fun return visit to Key West, a very target-rich environment for photography.  Besides wandering around town, one of my favorite places to shoot, and just take in, is Bahia Honda State Park on Big Pine Key.  Our second visit there did not disappoint as it was a spectacular day.  The images of the bridge, beach and bird were taken there.

So here are just a couple of the images from our second Key West adventure to get me back on the blog.

Stay tuned for more as I have plenty of things to share in the weeks ahead!
