July Lavender 2013

Early July means the lavender is in bloom in Bucks County!  Here are some pictures from this year's visit to the farm.  Many thanks to the folks at Carousel Farm.

Crazy Birds

Went to Discovery Cove in Florida this spring.  My brother insisted I not miss the birds!  Smart guy as the birds were very interesting and made for some cool pictures.  Here a few from that day...

Umbrellas

One recent morning in Florida, I came across a salty guy setting up a row of beach umbrellas. He took great care to place each one in line with the others. The repeating pattern of blue and white stripes against the deep blue water on the unoccupied beach really caught my eye.  Unfortunately, I had a hard time getting just the right perspective to capture how cool this really looked.  The pictures are just ok, but looking at the umbrellas makes me happy thinking about that warm day in March!  I keep a print of the two chairs in my office.  I look at it often when I need a mental vacation.... Cherry Blossoms

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Washington, DC during cherry blossom season.  What a scenic place to take pictures! While I had fun with my new, ultra-wide lens, one of the best pictures of the day came from my smartphone.  Can you guess which one that is?  Here are some of my favorite images of that day around the Tidal Basin ...

  

Signs of Spring

Its been a slow winter for the hobby.  But our annual visit to the flower gives me a reason to break out the camera!  Always a target-rich environment, I  find many items to shoot.  The interesting challenge is the artificial light.  I find the flash difficult to manage and tend to overexpose with it a bit.  Oh well, more practice I guess!  Here are some of my keepers from the show.  Spring arrives in a few days....

 

A snowy Saturday in the neighborhood!  Great day to try a few things... like shooting in bad weather.  Need some more practice managing the dull exposure and bokeh!

Suddenly it's Fall Everywhere!

I live in a beautiful place....    While it's not especially cool yet, the trees have really started to turn and there are pumpkins everywhere!  It seems that overnight autumn has taken hold.  I'm sure it did not look like this last weekend... we were just at the beach!

Well, here is my first post of the new season.  I was very intrigued with the farm stand we came upon today and it's very massive and bold pumpkin display.  I'll be going back in a week or two once the leaves pop with more color.
