Autumn Walk

I had a chance to get out this past weekend and take in some autumn scenery.  I paid a visit to the Delaware river and the state park at Lake Nockamixon.    Per the website, the name Nockamixon comes from the American Indian phrase “nocha-miska-ing” which is Lenni Lenape for “at the place of soft soil.” Several American Indian sites from the Lenni Lenape Tribe (Delaware) are documented in the park area.  I was happy to re-engage with these awesome places!

The venues gave me the chance to experiment with some filters and lenses.  I guess some of the images are a bit "cliché" but, it was fun to get out into the countryside and take in a good dose of autumn.

I hope you like the pics.....

My Plumeria

I've waited almost four years for my plumeria plants to finally bloom.  After years of nurturing and care, I am rewarded with a couple of flowers.  Of course, I had to take some photos!  Here are some of the better ones.  I think they look a bit over saturated, but otherwise not too bad for a first try.

I hope you like them.

OBX III

By now you know that I like to take photo at the beach and that one of my favorite spots is the Outer Banks of North Carolina, USA.  This year I had ample opportunity to enjoy my hobby.  Along with the usual sunrises and sunsets, we had a cool storm and an awesome moon rise.  I even had a chance experiment with the milky way!  Lots to learn about star photography, but not too bad for my first try....

I hope that you like the photos!

Pigeon Point Light

How about some lighthouse images for mid-summer?  Here are some photos I took a little over a year ago on a trip to California.  I hung on to them for a while as I figured out what to do with the blown out sky on some of the images.  I've tried to correct using the graduated filter tool in Lightroom.   I hope I didn't overdo it and make them look fake!

This is Pigeon Point Lighthouse, south of Moss Beach.  It is a beautiful spot.  Christina and I were treated to seeing whales that day as they swam by right off the shore behind the light.

Here is a link for more information about Pigeon Point.  I hope you like the photos!

In the Garden this Week

This is a great time of year to find subjects right outside the back door!

I experimented with the "back button" focus technique using my DLSR.  It's pretty handy and I had some fun with it... gave me reason to get outside and shoot.  Kudos to my wife and her green thumb for creating our garden oasis and giving me lots of material to work with...

Here are the better images from this week in the garden.  I hope you like them!
